The Frisco ISD girls basketball teams have hit the halfway point of the District 9-5A season and the boys are closing in on the midpoint. On Saturday night, a day after strong thunderstorms pushed the schedule back, a collection of games showed just how entertaining the final month of the district season should be.

In a battle of the top two Frisco ISD girls teams, Liberty beat Lone Star 49-47 in double overtime. It’s the third time in the last four matchups of the Liberty and Lone Star girls teams that the game has gone to overtime. Jazzy Owens-Barnett scored 26 points for Liberty (9-0 in District 9-5A), the defending district champion.

Two of the top FISD boys teams also needed overtime to decide their game Saturday. Centennial rallied from a big deficit to beat Reedy 75-69. Anshu Reddy scored 25 points for the Titans, who improved their record to 5-2 in District 9-5A.

In another big boys game in the district race, Wakeland beat Memorial 58-47 to stay alone in first place in the district. Michael Niemann led Wakeland in scoring with 15 in the game.
