The final weekend of the high school swimming and diving season is here, and Frisco ISD student-athletes are heavily involved.
Frisco ISD swimmers will compete Friday and Saturday in the UIL state meet at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of UT-Austin. The 5A swimming and diving preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. Friday, and the finals will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
A year ago, FISD continued a long streak of having at least three of its swimming and diving teams, including boys and girls, finish in the top 10 in state. At the 2019 meet, the Wakeland boys finished second, the Reedy girls finished fifth and the Frisco girls were 10th.
The Wakeland boys won the Region 3-5A title two weeks ago at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium and Frisco ISD swimmers combined to win 14 events at the meet. FISD’s depth showed in the Region 3-5A team standings, as seven girls teams finished in the top 10 and five boys teams finished in the top 10.
A total of 57 student-athletes are traveling to the UIL State Swimming and Diving Meet, including at least one representative from each of the District’s 10 high schools.
