-- UPDATED April 17 --
Governor Greg Abbott ordered today that all public schools remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Unfortunately, that means all athletic events, practices and facility use will also remain suspended through the end of the school year.
During a news conference Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott extended the suspension of all in-person classes for public schools through May 1. The purpose of extending the closure is to help eliminate the spread of COVID-19.
In coordination with that announcement, all Frisco ISD athletic events are also suspended through May 1. This includes practices, as well as open gyms and weight rooms. All Frisco ISD facilities are closed until further notice.
The District hopes students and families will take this time to care for themselves and their community and adhere to the preventative measures recommended by public health officials. Those preventative measures include limiting interaction and practicing social distancing.
The district will continue to reassess the situation in our community and will seek additional guidance from our local, state and federal agencies, including Collin County Health Services, Denton County Public Health, Texas Health and Human Services, the Texas Education Agency and CDC.
