The University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced today that it is extending its suspension of all UIL-sanctioned activities due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Texas. All contests, practices, rehearsals and workouts will remain suspended until further notice.
The UIL said that the earliest date for games and contests resuming will be May 4. It's possible that prior to that date, the UIL will allow member schools to begin practicing or rehearsing again.
“We are working diligently on contingency plans to conduct state championships in each of the activities that have been suspended,” said UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt. “ While the immediate future is unclear, we are committed to providing these much-desired activities to all Texas students and will prepare for all possible outcomes , including extended school closures.”
Frisco ISD has announced that eLearning will replace in-class instruction through at least Friday, April 3. All Frisco ISD athletic events are also suspended through April 3, and that includes practices as well as open gyms and weight rooms.
