Five Frisco ISD wrestlers won regional titles and a total of 16 District wrestlers earned state berths Saturday at the 5A Region 2 Wrestling Championships held at Prosper Rock Hill High School.
Centennial wrestlers Tyten Volk (138 pounds) and John Bray (195) won boys regional titles, helping the Titans finish fourth in the boys team standings. Individual champions in the girls regional bracket were Lebanon Trail’s Janaya Baeza (95 pounds), Liberty’s Stephanie Qiu (110) and Independence’s Tabitha Wood (119). The Wakeland girls were the top team finisher from FISD, finishing third.
The top three finishers in each weight class advanced to the UIL State Tournament, which will be Friday and Saturday (April 23-24) at the Berry Center in Cypress.
